Ode to a Bruise by Kathryn Hujda

Ode to a Bruise
The olive edges mark the outer limits
of the blood galaxy rising on my thigh –
like nebulous gases,
combusting in untouchable space,
my skin is bejeweled with magenta planetesimals
orbiting in otherwordly indigos.

Oh small contusial universe,
the pressures at your conception
astound me.
